Senior/Lead Data Scientist – Open Banking

Overview

In this Senior Data Scientist role within Klarna’s Open Banking team, you translate raw bank data into actionable insights for fraud prevention and underwriting. You will own feature engineering across cash flows, build models to estimate default probability and fraud scores, and shepherd models from data to production. You collaborate with engineering to scale deployments, monitor performance via dashboards, and align with Credit Modeling and Fraud teams to meet shared goals. This is a chance to shape the analytics foundation for risk decisioning at scale and contribute to Klarna’s risk and fraud capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy ML models end to end from raw data to production in collaboration with engineering
• Develop feature engineering pipelines for transactional/financial data
• Create models for probability of default and fraud scoring to support underwriting and risk decisions
• Own model lifecycle including production deployment, monitoring, and impact tracking
• Partner with Credit Modeling and Fraud teams to align on goals and infrastructure
• Develop dashboards to monitor model performance, acceptance rates, and business impact

Key requirements

• Experience building and deploying machine learning models end to end
• Strong feature engineering skills with transactional or financial data
• Proficient in Python and SQL
• Experience in AWS environments
• Solid understanding of classification modeling techniques for risk or fraud
• Comfortable collaborating with engineering teams to productionize models
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ownership-driven mindset and ability to build infrastructure from scratch
