Overview

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Barhale, you will manage the commercial performance of water, utilities and infrastructure projects in North London. You’ll work closely with project teams, clients and subcontractors to control costs and maximise value. The role combines robust contract knowledge with active stakeholder engagement to deliver on-time, on-budget outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial performance of projects
  • Prepare monthly CVRs, forecasts and cost reports
  • Monitor project costs, margins and cash flow
  • Manage subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts
  • Prepare applications for payment
  • Manage accounts through to final account
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Support contract and change management
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and Commercial Managers
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Provide commercial advice to project teams
  • Support and mentor junior commercial staff

Key requirements

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor in construction, civil engineering or infrastructure
  • Strong experience on water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing projects valued around 1m–5m
  • Knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts
  • Experience with Target Cost contracts
  • Strong commercial and cost-control experience
  • Experience preparing/managing CVRs, forecasts and cost reports
  • Experience with cash flow and financial reporting
  • Experience managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts
  • Experience with valuations, payments, accruals and final accounts
  • Good understanding of commercial and contractual risk
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
