Overview

In this role you will lead the operational risk framework for the London branch, ensuring regulatory alignment and effective risk controls. You will work closely with risk and business leaders to implement and monitor RCSA processes and KRIs. You will escalate findings to senior management and drive improvements across risk systems and reporting. This is an embedding and leadership role in a bilingual, UK-based banking environment with a focus on proactive risk management. You will shape risk culture by training staff and supporting risk-based decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the branch’s operational risk framework is fit-for-purpose and regulatory compliant
  • Implement and maintain RCSA process across the branch to identify, measure, monitor, and control material risks
  • Escalate RCSA progress and key findings to senior risk leadership and business owners
  • Develop and maintain operational risk systems, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain and enhance the branch’s KRI reporting framework
  • Utilize external risk databases to support RCSA and KRI development and ensure timely submissions
  • Analyse and report operational risk events, track follow-up actions
  • Provide branch-wide training on the risk framework, including events, RCSAs and KRIs
  • Develop and facilitate operational risk scenario assessments
  • Oversee Operational Risk Working Forum and prepare reports for Risk Committee and senior management

Key requirements

  • Fluency in Mandarin and English (written and spoken)
  • Solid operational risk management experience in UK banking
  • Ability to autonomously lead in risk area and influence stakeholders
  • Degree level education in numerate/financial/accounting or a relevant professional qualification
  • Extensive experience implementing risk management and control frameworks in a commercial banking/treasury environment
  • Knowledge of wholesale and treasury products, including clearing and/or retail/private banking
  • Strong understanding of UK regulatory framework for operational risk
  • Awareness of broader financial/non-financial risks and risk appetite is advantageous
