Overview

In this role you will lead the Trust’s procurement strategy and ensure compliant, value-driven sourcing across the portfolio. You will build strong relationships with clinical, operational, and commercial stakeholders to secure best-value solutions and deliver savings. You will advise on procurement processes, manage supplier performance, and contribute to regional and national forums, shaping value-based procurement at a prestigious NHS Trust. This is a chance to drive social value and CIP delivery while operating in a politically sensitive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and delivery of sourcing strategies within the allocated division and achieve savings targets
  • Manage supplier relationships, contract management, and performance in designated spend areas
  • Collaborate with other government agencies and NHS Trusts on joint procurement initiatives
  • Monitor procurement and supply chain performance and contribute to Trust committee and board reports
  • Provide specialist procurement advice and ensure compliance with legislation and regulations
  • Undertake supplier and market research, evaluate performance, and drive continuous improvement
  • Embed social value within procurement processes and maintain strategic supplier partnerships

Key requirements

  • Degree level or equivalent in a commercial subject
  • MCIPS or equivalent experience or working towards MCIPS
  • Prince2 Practitioner (project management)
  • Knowledge of Public procurement processes and regulations
  • Knowledge of contract law
  • Knowledge of purchase-to-pay systems and e-procurement tools
  • Experience delivering procurements compliant with EU Procurement law
  • Experience in complex procurement projects and tender processes
  • Experience in supplier relationship management and delivering savings targets
  • Experience with e-tendering, e-sourcing, reverse auctions, and e-catalogues
  • Strong negotiation and influencing abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Public Contracts Regulations knowledge
  • Contract law knowledge
  • E-procurement tools (e-tendering, e-sourcing, reverse auctions)
