HR Manager Required – Wellingborough
Quest Employment are currently recruiting for an experienced HR Manager to join a busy warehousing and logistics operation based in Wellingborough.
This is a hands-on, operational HR position suited to an experienced HR professional who is confident supporting managers and employees within a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
The Role
As HR Manager, you will provide day-to-day HR support across the operation, ensuring employment legislation and company procedures are followed while supporting employee engagement, performance and retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice and support to managers on employee relations matters, including absence, disciplinaries, grievances, performance and capability.
- Manage employee relations cases from initial investigation through to hearings and outcomes.
- Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers.
- Build strong working relationships with warehouse managers, supervisors and shift leaders.
- Provide visible, hands-on HR support within an operational warehouse environment.
- Support workforce planning, onboarding and peak-period recruitment.
- Advise managers on overtime, agency usage and shift changes.
- Ensure HR policies and procedures are applied consistently.
- Maintain accurate employee records and support HR audits and compliance reporting.
- Monitor absence and attendance trends and support return-to-work processes.
- Provide guidance on long-term absence, occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
- Support permanent, temporary and agency recruitment campaigns, including interviews, inductions and probation reviews.
- Liaise with recruitment agencies regarding compliance, cost control and performance.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, communication forums and site briefings.
- Contribute to HR projects, policy updates, engagement surveys and system improvements.
- Use HR data to identify trends and make practical recommendations.
- Support organisational change and TUPE processes where required.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven experience working as an HR Manager, preferably within warehousing, logistics, manufacturing or another operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations.
- Experience confidently advising managers and challenging constructively where required.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working within a fast-paced, operational environment.
Desirable:
- CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 qualification, or currently working towards one.
- Experience with change management or TUPE processes.
