Overview
As a Water Resources Consultant at Arcadis, you will contribute to water resources, hydrology, and environmental studies within a climate adaptation team. You will work on a mix of water-related projects for utilities, authorities, and developers, growing your technical capabilities through mentoring and on-the-job learning. The role offers exposure to Water Cycle Studies, WINEP investigations, and regulatory deliverables, with a path to broader experience across water management disciplines. You will collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver impactful, sustainable solutions and support business development and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support delivery of water resources, hydrology, water balance and integrated water management projects
- Prepare water balance assessments, water resource studies and technical reports
- Analyse hydrological, meteorological, environmental and water demand datasets
- Contribute to Water Cycle Studies, Water Framework Directive assessments, low-flow assessments and environmental assessments
- Support WINEP-related investigations and AMP planning work
- Develop nature-based solutions and sustainable water management strategies
- Assist with abstraction licence applications, permitting documentation and regulatory submissions
- Prepare business cases, options appraisals, bids, fee estimates and technical submissions
- Produce GIS mapping, data visualisations and figures for reports and presentations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across flood risk, hydrology, environmental management, planning and infrastructure
- Develop client and regulator relationships with support from seniors
- Support project management activities including task planning, progress updates, QA and communication
- Ensure compliance with Arcadis QHSE requirements
- Support wider team on project, business development, and knowledge-sharing activities

Key requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline such as Water Resources, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science, Hydrology or related subject
- Understanding of water resources, hydrology, water management or environmental assessment principles
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to use or develop GIS outputs and spatial information
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
