In this role you will lead and shape risk management for high‑profile defence projects, partnering with cross‑functional teams to safeguard programme outcomes. You will translate risk insights into planning decisions, monitor exposure against contingencies, and communicate status to stakeholders. The role sits in the Defence South East team, offering exposure to diverse, major programmes across defence domains and a path to grow within a purpose‑driven, collaborative organisation.

Responsibilities
- Lead risk identification, assessment and prioritisation through structured workshops and direct engagement with project teams
- Maintain visibility of threat and opportunity trigger points for risk cost profiling and retirement of risks/opportunities
- Integrate risk insights into planning and decision‑making to boost delivery confidence
- Monitor overall risk exposure against contingency budgets and issue early warnings
- Produce clear risk reports for stakeholders at all levels
- Support quantitative risk assessments (QRA) for cost and schedule to inform appropriate contingencies
- Demonstrate proficiency with risk management tools (Primavera Risk Analysis, @RISK, Safran Risk) and familiarity with ARM, Predict!, or Power BI for data visualisation
Key requirements
- Experience with UK Government departments and agencies on complex infrastructure or capital investment programmes
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and deliver outcomes through strategic direction
- Strong financial acumen with forecasting and budget delivery experience
- Broader project management expertise including change management, stakeholder engagement, and governance across project lifecycle
- Security clearance (SC or higher) or eligibility; UK passport
- Degree qualified in a relevant technical, engineering, or management discipline, or equivalent qualifications and demonstrable risk management experience
- Membership in APM, IRM, or PMI
- UK driving license or ability to travel to client sites
