Overview
In this role you will shape MUFG’s credit risk framework for corporate banking across Europe, the Middle East and Africa from our London Credit Office. You will work closely with senior management and cross‑functional teams to assess non‑Japanese corporate borrowers, monitor portfolios, and drive risk‑based decisions. You will contribute to risk policy projects, share market insights, and mentor junior staff, all while ensuring regulatory and internal policy compliance. Responsibilities
- Conduct in‑depth credit assessments for non‑Japanese corporates across industries (Industrials, Consumer, TMT, Healthcare, Retail)
- Monitor portfolio performance and prepare reports for local and global leadership
- Draft credit papers, apply rating methodologies, and generate comparative statistics under senior guidance
- Participate in ad‑hoc risk criteria and policy projects to enhance portfolio quality
- Stay updated on market, regulatory changes, and sector trends across EMEA; share insights with the team
- Support junior colleagues through knowledge sharing and mentorship
- Ensure strict regulatory and internal policy compliance in all activities
- Prepare comprehensive reports for Tokyo and EuropeanHQ and support credit committee materials
- Collaborate across departments to maintain clear communication between senior and junior staff
- Identify potential conflicts of interest and escalate to preserve entity integrity
Key requirements
- Experience in a financial institution’s credit division focused on corporate clients
- Strong sector analysis experience, especially in Consumer, TMT, Healthcare or Retail
- Background in investment banking environments with a credit/front‑office focus
- Solid understanding of credit assessment and risk management principles
- Knowledge of derivatives and complex financial products
- Experience managing regulatory audits and compliance practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all levels
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree advantageous but not essential
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills for data analysis and reporting
