Mechanical Project Manager | Dartford / London & Home Counties – £70,000 + Benefits

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join an established business delivering commercial M&E projects across London and the Home Counties.

This is a project delivery-focused position and would suit someone with a strong mechanical/HVAC background who has experience taking projects from initial enquiry and survey through to completion.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for managing multiple mechanical and M&E projects simultaneously, typically ranging from £120K to £2M, with responsibility for technical delivery, commercial performance, procurement, compliance and client relationships.

Projects will include:

  • Boiler room & plant room replacements
  • VRV / VRF replacements
  • Mechanical HVAC installations
  • General M&E projects within commercial environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Take projects from initial enquiry and site survey through to completion
  • Produce accurate project estimates, including pipework, materials and labour
  • Manage procurement and subcontractors
  • Lead and manage an in-house team of fitters/engineers
  • Monitor project costs, margins and financial performance
  • Provide regular financial reporting to management
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • Manage CDM compliance and project documentation
  • Work with contracts including JCT Design & Build
  • Produce and manage O&M documentation through to project completion
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Develop repeat business through successful project delivery
  • Attend client meetings and site meetings across London and the Home Counties

We’re Looking For

  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Proven Mechanical Project Management experience
  • A high level of technical competence across mechanical services and HVAC
  • Experience delivering projects from £120K–£2M
  • Experience managing in-house engineers/fitters
  • Experience with plant rooms, chillers, VRV/VRF and AHUs
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations
  • Experience working with JCT D&B or similar contracts
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills
  • Excellent IT and organisational skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

Important: This is not a service/maintenance Project Manager position.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate genuine end-to-end project delivery experience, including estimating, procurement, commercial management, financial reporting, contract compliance and final completion.

You’ll also need to be flexible with travel into London, the Dartford office and client sites across the Home Counties. Site meetings are client-driven, so the role requires flexibility around office, home and site-based working.
