Chief Executive

Overview

As Chief Executive, you will lead Julie’s Bicycle through its next chapter, aligning strategy with its mission to harness culture for climate action. You will work with the Board and staff to sharpen priorities, secure sustainable income, and amplify the organisation’s voice across culture and environmental networks. You will champion collaboration, equity, and creative leadership to drive meaningful impact. This role offers the chance to shape policy influence, partnerships, and programmes that mobilise cultural sectors for climate, nature, and justice outcomes.

Responsibilities

• set and deliver the organisation’s strategy and theory of change
• build sustainable income streams and financial resilience
• strengthen stakeholder relationships with funders, policymakers, and cultural partners
• act as visible external advocate for culture-led climate action
• lead and develop a values-led, inclusive leadership team
• ensure strong governance, accountability and organisational systems
• shape and communicate Julie’s Bicycle’s distinctive value to diverse audiences
• foster partnerships and cross-sector collaboration to maximise impact

Key requirements

• senior leadership experience with a track record in organisational development
• experience in partnership building and income generation
• strong understanding of culture-climate nexus and UK cultural landscape or climate policy
• ability to engage funders, policymakers and networks
