Overview
In this role, you will strengthen economic crime risk management to protect the bank’s stability. You’ll shape risk strategy, lead a team, and partner with cross‑functional units to embed robust controls and policies. You’ll evaluate emerging threats, provide risk insights, and enable safe growth. The position sits in our London/Northampton footprint, offering high‑impact work in a complex, governance‑driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Define strategic risk direction and implement up‑to‑date methodologies
- Lead and manage the risk department, overseeing performance and priorities
- Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure quality external services
- Adhere to risk policy and maintain a robust control environment
- Advise on decision making, policy development, and operational effectiveness
- Lead complex tasks, coach teams, and align work with enterprise objectives
- Model Barclays values and leadership behaviours (LEAD)
- Identify and manage economic crime risks, enabling safe business growth
- Develop expertise in Economic Crime, delivering analysis and practical support
- Improve processes, management information, and intelligence capabilities
- Communicate complex information and influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes
- Collaborate across business units to understand activity and strategy
- Perform data‑driven risk analyses from multiple sources
- Support change initiatives and risk‑based recommendations
- Own risk management and strengthen controls across work areas
- Engage in cross‑functional coordination to meet organizational objectives
Key requirements
- Knowledge of Economic Crime risks, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks
- Strong analytical skills to assess data from multiple sources
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Recognised Economic Crime qualification (ICA AML Diploma, ACAMS or equivalent)
- Ability to present complex risks and analysis clearly
- Experience supporting change initiatives and process improvements
- Experience producing risk insights or management information for decision‑making
