What is the role:

Working within the SIG UK IT Team to provide day-to-day operation and project support, liaising with SIG IT third party solution providers to help troubleshoot, deploy and maintain SIG standards. This role requires knowledge of WAN, Internet, LAN, Wi-Fi, Firewalls, IP Telephony and Video Conferencing technologies. This role will also require a familiarity with elements of Cloud and Infrastructure O365, Azure, server and end-user computing infrastructure.

Success in this role requires strong technical, troubleshooting, organisational, planning and communication skills. The role is expected to identify opportunities to reduce manual effort through automation, use AI-enabled tools appropriately to improve analysis and productivity, and support consistent execution at scale while limiting avoidable errors.

SIG currently operates in more than 170 branches and head offices with over 3000 employees across the UK.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for delivering and maintaining a highly reliable systems infrastructure, as well as providing recommendations for effective and efficient management of IT system resources
  • 3rd line incident response and trouble ticket handling for issues impacting the IT systems infrastructure
  • Create, edit and react to system alerts and service or incident escalations
  • Review and organize latest hot fixes, critical updates and version upgrades handled by 3rd party providers
  • Provide and assist in the creation of documentation, policies and procedures
  • Work with cross functional IT teams and business stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and or execute projects
  • Develop systems, automation, AI-assisted processes and operational tools that make deploying, updating, monitoring and supporting infrastructure simpler, more efficient, more reliable and faster.

What you will bring:

Essential

  • Experience supporting LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, routing and firewall technologies in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting VoIP and unified communications services, with Cisco Webex Calling experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Cisco CLI, with CCNA certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse technical issues and identify practical resolutions.
  • Knowledge of IT service management processes, including incident, problem, change and configuration management.
  • Awareness of automation and AI-enabled tools that can improve operational efficiency, troubleshooting, monitoring or documentation.
  • Able to review supplier Statements of Work and Bills of Materials, escalating concerns where they do not align with SIG standards or requirements.
  • Self-motivated and detail-focused, with the ability to prioritise work effectively in a busy operational environment.
  • Able to work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers and business stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting work delivered through structured project or programme management approaches.

Desired

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint and related cloud services.
  • Familiarity with server operating systems and Microsoft Windows 11.
