Commercial Manager | Demolition Contractor | London

Overview

In this Commercial Manager role, you will oversee financial performance across demolition, piling and groundworks contracts, driving cost control, reporting and profitability. You’ll lead and mentor small teams, liaise with long-standing clients, and ensure contracts from 1m to 10m are delivered with minimal hassle. The position sits within the commercial function of a specialist sub-contractor with a strong track record in the Southeast. This is a chance to shape financial outcomes on high-value packages and partner with on-site teams to sustain value and cash flow.

Responsibilities

• Financial cost control and reporting for current contracts
• Improve financial return on contracts; maximise cash flows and profit
• Lead and mentor junior staff; manage small teams
• Cost control and procurement of Subcontracts; negotiate orders
• Paying and monitoring Subcontractor progress; cost forecasting and outturn cost reporting
• Client liaison and value forecasting for client team
• Monitor progress of purchasing and subcontractor activity
• Set standards and provide training to subordinates
• Identify risks and opportunities; promote company values
• Support Contracts Managers with cost advice and strategic planning

Key requirements

• Ideally degree qualified
• 10+ years of experience in Demolition, Cut & Carve and/or groundworks & RC frame packages
• Proven track record of managing teams / a business unit
