Resident Engineer

Overview

As a Resident Engineer at Linde Material Handling, you will be stationed at a customer site to diagnose and resolve technical issues on forklift and material-handling equipment. You’ll lead preventative maintenance and keep the fleet operating at peak efficiency, delivering exceptional on-site service and building strong customer relationships. The role combines hands-on problem solving with proactive support, contributing to the customer’s operations and Linde’s service reputation. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, safety, and outstanding service quality.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair technical issues on Linde forklifts and related equipment at customer sites
• Perform preventative maintenance and essential check-ups to ensure fleet reliability
• Provide on-site service and support, building strong customer relationships
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to maintain Linde’s product reputation
• Work autonomously and as part of a team to meet service targets
• Utilize IT tools to record data, place orders, and track maintenance activities

Key requirements

• Experience as vehicle technicians or mechanical engineers; forklift technicians, plant fitters, plant technicians, or vehicle technicians are desirable
• NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) qualification is preferred but not essential
• Comfort with IT equipment and digital record-keeping
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team
• Experience with plant equipment, powered access equipment, agricultural machinery, motor vehicles, or industrial cleaners is desirable
