Principal Consultant – Defence Infrastructure (Logistics)

Overview

In this Defence Logistics role, you join the Logistics Team to shape and implement integrated logistics for high-profile infrastructure projects. You’ll support early planning, governance, and asset tracking from procurement through operations, helping clients de-risk delivery. The role offers exposure to defence and commercial programmes, working with cross-functional teams to deliver robust logistics solutions. You will influence strategy and deliver tangible improvements in operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of an integrated project team to deliver client deliverables
• Design and facilitate client workshops and presentations
• Manage client relationships
• Identify and realise business development opportunities
• Contribute to bid proposals and internal initiatives
• Mentor and line-manage junior staff where applicable
• Provide strategic logistics consultancy to clients
• Develop and implement innovative logistics strategies to improve efficiency
• Advise on best practices in transportation, warehousing, and distribution
• Analyse client logistics processes to identify improvements
• Collaborate on tailored logistics solutions and proposals
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory standards
• Support development of integrated logistics delivery planning service

Key requirements

• Thorough knowledge of logistic principles and processes (S&OP, JIT)
• Understanding of planning and development of major projects
• Working knowledge of CDM regulations, RIBA stages, NEC 4 options
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
