Senior Mechanical Engineer. Central London. Real design responsibility, not just delivery.

Overview

In this role you lead mechanical design from concept through construction within a Central London building services consultancy. You own client relationships, make key technical decisions, and drive project delivery across refurbishment and new-build schemes. You’ll operate in a mid-sized team with early involvement in projects, delivering high-quality work in a demanding London context. You help shape solutions with a focus on HVAC and low-carbon design, aligning with the client’s goals and the RIBA process.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept to construction
• Own client relationships and manage project delivery
• Make technical decisions and steer design quality
• Work on refurbishment of existing spaces and new-build mixed-use schemes
• Maintain design freedom to deliver proper solutions
• Engage with clients at the interface and guide project teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a flat organizational structure

Key requirements

• Experienced mechanical engineer in building services
• Chartered or working towards it
• Strong grounding in HVAC, plant selection, and low carbon design
• Knowledge of the full RIBA process
• Comfortable at the client interface
• Proven ability to own projects and deliver outcomes
