In this role you lead delivery of transport planning for development projects, driving technical outputs, client relationships and growth for an established consultancy. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to take projects from feasibility through planning approval and beyond, shaping transport strategies for residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
- Produce and review Environmental Statement Transport Chapters
- Lead transport planning inputs for residential, commercial, retail, leisure and mixed-use developments
- Build, run and interpret junction models using Junctions 10 and LinSig
- Provide technical advice on highway design, active travel and sustainable transport
- Manage projects, programmes and budgets to ensure on-time delivery
- Coordinate with planners, engineers, architects and environmental consultants on multidisciplinary schemes
- Represent clients in meetings and negotiations with Highway Authorities and stakeholders
- Prepare fee proposals and support business development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor and develop Graduate, Assistant and Consultant-level staff
Key requirements
- Approximately 3-8 years’ experience in transport planning consultancy or local authority development planning
- Strong understanding of development-led transport planning principles
- Experience preparing and reviewing TA, Travel Plans and Environmental Statement Chapters
- Proficiency in Junctions 10 and LinSig software
- Knowledge of Manual for Streets, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel England guidance and transport planning policy
- Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Confidence engaging with clients, developers, local authorities and stakeholders
- Strong technical report writing and presentation skills
- Experience preparing fee proposals and managing project budgets
- Membership of TPS, CIHT or CILT, or progression towards professional accreditation
