In this Procurement Officer role at AALTO, you will manage the full procurement lifecycle for key aerospace commodities (Avionics, Power on Board, EWIS) to secure timely, high-quality components with strong value. You’ll shape sourcing strategies, build supplier partnerships, and support programme delivery and manufacturing readiness in a fast-moving, collaborative setting. The role links engineering, programme management, and quality teams to align specifications with supplier capabilities, driving regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver procurement strategies for Avionics, Power on Board and EWIS
- Assess market trends, supplier options and supply chain optimisation opportunities
- Lead supplier selection activities from RFx to technical and commercial assessments
- Negotiate long-term agreements, pricing and contract terms
- Manage contract changes, claims, cost-saving opportunities and budgets
- Ensure sourcing activity and contracts meet regulatory, export control and governance requirements
- Build and manage supplier relationships with measurable performance in cost, quality, delivery and technical capability
- Support supplier development to improve manufacturing readiness and aerospace standards
- Resolve supplier performance issues and manage programme delivery risks
- Collaborate with Engineering to align specifications and cost targets
- Coordinate with Programme Management Office for schedule alignment and risk mitigation
- Engage with Supply Chain Quality Assurance on non-conformances and audits
- Monitor supply chain risks (long-lead items, obsolescence, regulatory changes)
- Maintain procurement data and contract records in ERP and other systems
Key requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication with a proactive mindset
- Experience developing and delivering procurement strategies
- Excellent organisation, supplier relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Background in preparing, managing and evaluating tenders with strong negotiation skills
- Experience in contract management and supplier development
- Procurement experience in aerospace, defence or a high-complexity, regulated industry
- Experience managing technical commodities (Avionics, Power on Board, EWIS) is advantageous
- Familiarity with ISO9001, EN/AS9100 and CAA requirements
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or related field (or equivalent)
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 and ERP systems such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics 365
