dnata Travel Group, part of the Emirates Group, includes the brands of Gold Medal and Travelbag.

We are now recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer who will be working on all phases of software development, within a team of developers at our Leyland office. Working closely with product/programme management, infrastructure and architecture teams, to deliver high quality robust solutions within agreed timeframes.

The dnata Travel engineering team are responsible for the growth and evolution of in-house developed travel platforms and integrate with a number of 3rd party platforms. These platforms are being developed and rolled out across multiple brands, departments and teams within the dnata Travel group.

You will be joining a smart, experienced, fast-moving team working in an agile environment, who continue to explore new technologies, tools & techniques to both grow the platforms and to service the growing needs of the business that the platforms supports.

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 per week

Job Accountabilities

  • Undertake the development of high load, multi-threaded, distributed, enterprise software systems to formal and informally provided design schematics.
  • Deliver strong technical solutions with high quality and on time.
  • Take ownership of assigned work items and drive to their successful conclusion.
  • Provide clear and accurate updates on progress, status and risks.
  • Provide representative and timely estimates for future work candidates.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of enterprise software development patterns, practices and methodologies.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of Microsoft web application .NET development technologies, including .NET, .NET Core, SQL Server 2012 and any subsequent versions.
  • Stay up to date with technology developments and techniques that provide commercial advantage.
  • To work with all members of the Development Team to promote a good team working environment where open communication is invited.
  • Respond to live issues raised throughout the business.
  • Liaise with the testing and infrastructure teams on technical and support issues.
  • Communicate complex technical solutions in a clear and concise manner to members of the development team and IT department.
  • Work to continually improve the development team’s processes and methodologies.
  • Provide On Call support to the business

To be considered for this role, we need you to have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • A background in delivering web sites / services using .NET technology environment.
  • Knowledge of principles and concepts and practical experience of a wide range of technology solutions.
  • A strong track record of software delivery.
  • Experience of working on multi-tier, high volume, transactional systems and a thorough understanding of the related challenges and how to navigate them.
  • Broad knowledge of key technology theories and architectures (e.g. data structures, algorithms, design patterns, application architectures, technologies and solution design).
  • Experience of developing and supporting APIs and micro services supplying a service to both internal and external customers.
  • Experience of software development within the travel industry.
