Contract Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will be a senior member of the design team delivering detailed electrical building services designs. You will perform calculations and feasibility work, using manual methods, Excel, and industry software like Amtech. You will produce drawings, specifications, and reports for multiple design phases and coordinate with architects, engineers, surveyors, and contractors. You will help deliver engineering solutions within client budgets and programmes while engaging in project meetings. This is a client‑facing, technically challenging position that supports healthcare and other building projects with a focus on quality and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver detailed electrical building services designs
• Perform calculations using manual methods, Excel, and Amtech
• Produce feasibility reports, design specifications, and drawings for multiple design phases
• Coordinate with structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors
• Support delivery of solutions within client budgets and programmes
• Attend project group and technical meetings

Key requirements

• Accredited Building Services / Electrical Engineering degree or higher
• 8+ years’ experience in building services design
• Experience on healthcare sector projects
• Chartered status or working towards chartered status
• Experience using AutoCAD and ideally Revit
• Full UK driving license
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex issues to clients and teams
• Ambition, willingness to learn, diligence and strong organizational skills
