Overview
In this role, you drive mine engineering studies from conception to deliverables within WSP’s Mine Engineering & Stability team, applying advisory expertise to client challenges. You’ll shape life-of-m mine plans, assess development paths, and support financial analyses and due diligence. You’ll collaborate across geotechnical, water, tailings, and closure disciplines, while mentoring junior engineers and leading safety improvements. Responsibilities
- Lead mining studies and project deliverables through all lifecycle stages
- Advise on mining methods, development paths, life-of-mine planning, and optimisation strategies
- Develop cost models and perform project economic analyses from options to feasibility
- Support due diligence reviews for M&A or project finance with multi-disciplinary teams
- Coordinate interfaces between mine advisory disciplines and capital projects/asset management
- Travel domestically and internationally to support project delivery
- Provide safety leadership to identify and mitigate high-priority hazards
- Mentor and develop junior engineers through training and guidance
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in a mining role
- Strong proficiency in mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac)
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor engineers
- Excellent communication, report writing, and analytical skills
- Prior consulting experience is advantageous
