Overview

In this role, you will advance ArcGIS Arcade by testing, documenting, and refining functional capabilities. You will collaborate with the ArcGIS Pro development team and broader Esri groups to ensure high-quality releases and seamless product integration. You’ll build datasets, sample applications, and guides to showcase scripting capabilities, while exploring AI-assisted enhancements. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced R&D environment with a clear impact on users worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Explore user challenges and provide actionable UX feedback
  • Create GIS datasets, maps, sample apps, and articles to highlight capabilities and scripting best practices
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and validate datasets/workflows for visualization, labeling, pop-ups, and attribute rules
  • Describe GIS best practices in meetings, forums, and customer-focused publications
  • Learn and contribute to AI code generation discussions, problem investigation, and prototype enhancements
  • Develop focused test code representing complex scenarios for investigation and regression testing
  • Administer and automate online and database GIS systems/services to support feature development and releases

Key requirements

  • 2+ years of GIS experience
  • Proficiency with mapping, spatial data or GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic skills
  • Proven initiative and creativity in exploring, testing, and validating software behavior
  • Experience of scripting or coding and ability to communicate with development teams
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, or related field
  • Existing work authorisation for the United Kingdom
  • Curiosity and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration
  • Proactive problem-solving and creativity
  • ArcGIS or QGIS proficiency
  • Scripting/coding experience (Python, JavaScript, Lua, Perl, Typescript)
  • Interest in AI code generation and development tools
