Financial Services Business Risk Director – Internal Audit Insurance and Pensions

Overview

In this role you will lead financial services risk engagements and drive strategic growth within Grant Thornton’s FS BRS practice. You’ll manage client relationships, mentor staff, and ensure high-quality delivery while supporting business development. The role sits in a collaborative, inclusive culture that balances client impact with people development and work‑life balance. You’ll help shape risk management for insurers and pension clients at scale, contributing to the firm’s mission to do the right thing for clients and society.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership and lead allocated assignments, exceeding client expectations
• Drive business development and win new work
• Manage a portfolio of existing client relationships and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
• Agree budgets for review with Partner and/or client
• Monitor invoices and cash collection to manage aged debtors
• Lead client liaison meetings and attend audit committee meetings

Key requirements

• Professional qualification (CIPFA, CISA, CISM, CISP, or similar)
• Post-qualification experience within the insurance or pensions market
• Confidence managing a large portfolio of internal audit engagements
• Proven track record of driving business development initiatives
• Experience leading client engagements and ensuring quality
