Overview

In this role, you will lead and contribute to robust social and market research projects for government clients in Manchester and across the UK. You’ll apply qualitative and quantitative methods to generate evidence-based insights that inform policy and services, while managing tasks, budgets, and risks. You’ll communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences and guide junior colleagues. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role with opportunities to influence public sector decisions and shape communities. You’ll work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team and engage with clients to drive meaningful change.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver robust qualitative and quantitative research activities using appropriate methodologies
  • Coordinate data collection and analysis to generate evidence-based insights
  • Produce high-quality reports and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Manage tasks, work packages, and smaller projects within budget and quality constraints
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, providing technical advice and supporting meetings/workshops
  • Mentor and guide junior colleagues to maintain standards across project teams
  • Contribute to business development and bids, including research design and technical proposals

Key requirements

  • Degree or above in Social Science, Market Research, Geography (Human) or relevant MRS qualifications
  • Experience delivering social and market research projects across all lifecycle stages
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality outputs
  • Problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot logistics or operational issues in real time
  • Proficiency with MS Excel; familiarity with survey programming (SNAP, Askia) and data management (SPSS) is beneficial
