Overview
In this role you will own electrical design projects from concept to commissioning within a UK-leading engineering business that designs material handling systems. You will collaborate with manufacturing, installation and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to new product development. The role emphasizes continuous improvement across the engineering department and end-to-end project delivery. Responsibilities
- Design electrical control systems for bespoke projects
- Produce and maintain electrical schematics and documentation using CAD
- Specify electrical components, cabling and control equipment
- Configure and support PLCs and VFDs
- Provide technical support during build, testing, commissioning and fault finding
- Assist with prototype development, testing and design validation
- Mentor junior engineers within the team
- Collaborate with production, installation and project teams to ensure successful delivery
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, product quality and efficiency
- Ensure designs comply with electrical standards and quality procedures
Key requirements
- Degree, HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- At least 5 years’ experience in an Electrical Design role
- Experience designing electrical control panels
- Strong knowledge of PLCs and variable frequency drives
- Experience producing electrical schematics using Electrical CAD software
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical standards and best practices
- Strong communication skills across multiple departments
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in material handling or similar engineering environment (desired)
