Senior Software Engineer – XVA Tech (VP)

Overview

In this role you lead the design, development, and delivery of complex application systems within Citi’s XVA Technology team. You’ll influence architecture, drive cross-functional collaboration, and own technical outcomes at scale in a global bank. You’ll tackle high-impact engineering problems, leverage AI-assisted coding with safeguards, and mentor mid-level engineers. This is a senior, business‑savvy engineering leadership role at a globally operating financial institution.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of application systems aligned with the architecture blueprint and evolving business needs
• Collaborate with multiple management teams to define system enhancements for new products and process improvements
• Resolve high-impact technical problems through in-depth analysis of business processes and industry standards
• Establish and enforce coding, testing, debugging, and implementation standards across the engineering team
• Develop knowledge of how architecture, infrastructure, and business functions interconnect to deliver integrated solutions
• Translate business context into well-scoped technical solutions across the full development lifecycle
• Apply AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Devin) with rigorous review to safeguard quality, security, and architecture
• Mentor mid-level developers and analysts, guiding delivery and professional growth
• Assess risk in engineering decisions and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining transparent escalation and reporting

Key requirements

• Proven experience in applications development or systems analysis with a track record of delivering complex software solutions
• Deep expertise in system analysis and software programming with independent problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage and deliver technology projects end-to-end across teams
• Subject matter expertise in at least one domain of applications development
• Strong T-shaped engineering capability combining deep technical skill with broad business understanding
• Leadership and project management experience guiding mid-level engineers and analysts
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to reprioritize quickly in response to changing business or technical demands
