Overview

In this role you will champion safeguarding across a complex charity, shaping policies, culture, and practice to protect vulnerable people. You will balance hands-on casework with strategic leadership, guiding senior leaders and external partners. You’ll drive training, monitor activity, and push for continuous improvement in safeguarding. This is an opportunity to influence culture at scale and ensure safeguarding is embedded in everyday work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safeguarding casework, risk assessment and risk management
  • Provide expert guidance to senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Promote and embed a positive safeguarding culture across the organisation
  • Develop and deliver safeguarding training and awareness programmes
  • Collaborate with statutory agencies and external safeguarding partners
  • Monitor safeguarding activity, analyse trends and drive continuous improvement
  • Support the development of policies, procedures and best practice

Key requirements

  • Significant safeguarding experience involving children and/or vulnerable adults
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policy and best practice
  • Experience advising senior managers, trustees or governance groups
  • Excellent risk assessment and decision-making skills
  • Trauma-informed and person-centred approach
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
  • Experience working with external agencies including social care, police or regulatory bodies
