Overview
In this role you will lead permitting for oil & gas midstream and energy transition projects, guiding regulatory submissions and agency coordination. You’ll work within a cross-disciplinary team to advance projects that support clients and communities, while upholding HSSE standards. You will shape permit strategies, foster client relationships, and contribute to a growing portfolio in traditional energy and renewables. This is a flexible-location role with potential for remote work, within a mission-driven, environmentally focused firm.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and project management for oil & gas midstream permitting projects and energy transition initiatives across the US
- Manage permit applications and agency coordination for Threatened and Endangered Species, Sections 404/10, CZMA, and Section 106 Cultural Resources
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and support proposal development
- Create and review technical documents supporting regulatory submissions
- Implement and coordinate Health, Safety and Environment policies across all project phases
- Collaborate with Environmental and Regulatory Specialists to ensure consistency in project execution
- Support multiple projects and offices nationwide as part of a larger midstream & energy permitting team
Key requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing pipeline projects with emphasis on large natural gas or liquids pipelines
- Experience with FERC and NEPA requirements and mitigation implementation
- Experience managing FERC-regulated projects including 7(b)/7(c) and related authorization processes
- Experience managing resource report development for FERC-regulated projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills and a client-focused mindset
- Ability to work under pressure and balance heavy workloads in a mobile, changing environment
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and network within technical teams
- Working understanding of HSSE policies and client-specific training requirements
- Project and task management experience with attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Post-employment drug/alcohol testing may be required where lawful and at Stantec’s discretion
- Education and Experience: Bachelor in Environmental Science; minimum 7+ years’ experience in similar role; minimum 5 years direct experience with FERC permit applications; experience with Threatened & Endangered Species, 404/10, CZMA, and Section 106
