Location: Maidstone, Kent, with occasional UK travel

We are supporting a growing specialist engineering business in the appointment of a Business Development Manager to help expand its service offering across the water, wastewater, local authority, leisure and light-industrial markets.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven professional with experience in technical sales or business development. You will focus on securing service and maintenance contracts covering pumping stations, sewage treatment plants, booster sets and associated mechanical and electrical assets.

The Role

You will manage the complete business-development process, from identifying prospective customers and conducting site visits through to preparing proposals, negotiating commercial terms and securing contracts.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying and developing new service-contract opportunities
  • Promoting planned maintenance, reactive support, asset refurbishment, compliance and optimisation services
  • Building relationships with facilities managers, council engineers, estates teams, leisure operators and water-company asset managers
  • Conducting site assessments to identify asset condition, operational challenges and opportunities for improvement
  • Preparing quotations, commercial proposals, tenders and framework submissions
  • Managing opportunities from initial engagement through to contract award
  • Working closely with engineering and service-delivery teams to ensure contracts are accurately scoped, priced and mobilised
  • Developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities for additional services
  • Maintaining accurate pipeline, forecasting and CRM information

About You:

We are looking for someone who can combine technical understanding with a consultative and commercially focused approach.

You should have:

  • Business development or technical sales experience within water, wastewater, facilities management or a related industrial environment
  • Experience selling service contracts, maintenance agreements or technical solutions
  • An understanding of pumping stations, sewage treatment processes, booster sets or similar mechanical and electrical systems
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and negotiation skills
  • The ability to translate technical information into clear commercial value
  • Experience preparing bids, proposals or tender submissions
  • A full UK driving licence

Existing relationships with local authorities, leisure facilities, industrial operators or water companies would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of environmental compliance, drainage systems, MEICA services or public-sector procurement would also be advantageous.

What’s on Offer:

  • 22 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Income protection
  • Company pension
  • On-site parking
  • In-house gym
  • Company events
  • Free commuter bus service

If you are an ambitious business-development professional looking to join a growing technical services business and play an important role in developing its service division, we would be pleased to hear from you.
