Professional Negligence Lawyer

Overview

As a Senior Fee Earner, you will manage professional negligence claims and contribute to the development of the ABS within Travelers Europe. You’ll handle your own caseload with minimal supervision, litigate to verdict, and work with the Head of Legal Practice on complex files. The role blends cross-border insurance litigation with strategic projects and regulatory compliance. This is a hybrid role based in Manchester or London, offering meaningful impact through high-stakes cases and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Litigate cases to verdict and apply strong trial skills
• Independently manage a moderate caseload with varying complexity
• Support Head of Legal Practice on high-exposure files
• Conduct legal research and supervise Paralegals/Legal Secretaries
• Draft interim motions, briefs, and court documents
• Attend court events independently and meet client expectations
• Contribute to ABS development and related projects/committees
• Provide file handling recommendations to business partners
• Integrate legal support staff into case handling
• Maintain client relationships and complete administrative tasks
• Leverage technology and automation in legal practice
• Adhere to SRA Code of Conduct and regulatory requirements
• Complete required training and certifications for compliance
• Keep thorough records of all transactions with customers and brokers
• Perform other duties as assigned

Key requirements

• Experience in insurance litigation is highly desirable
• Experience in professional indemnity and financial risks cases desired
