Managing Quantity Surveyor – Rail Depot

Overview

As Managing Quantity Surveyor on a rail depot project near Colchester, you will lead procurement and commercial management for a major NEC Option A contract (~£40m). You’ll oversee subcontract packages and change control across either railway systems and civils or maintenance building and fit-out. The role requires rail sector experience and strong reporting, with responsibility for managing section-wide commercial performance. This is a chance to shape project delivery on a varied civil and railway maintenance complex within a major contractor.

Responsibilities

• lead and coordinate the procurement process on the project
• manage subcontract packages and oversee change in cost and programme to final account
• maintain commercial control and reporting, including management accounts and earned value analysis
• apply technical knowledge of construction trades to a rail/maintenance project
• focus on either railway systems and civils or maintenance building and fit-out

Key requirements

• experience as Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor in railway projects
• knowledge of NEC design and build contracts
• MRICS or MCInstCES professional membership
