Senior Quantity Surveyor

Overview

In this role you will lead commercial management on major UK infrastructure projects and support high-profile programmes across airports, utilities and transport. You will work within the Birmingham team to drive cost control, procurement, and value engineering, collaborating with clients and contractors. You will apply NEC frameworks and produce cost plans from early forecasts to detailed estimates, shaping project outcomes. Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management activities across the project lifecycle
• Manage contracts and procurement processes, especially within NEC frameworks
• Oversee post-contract activities: payment approvals, change management, and cost control
• Engage directly with clients and contractors to ensure transparency and collaboration
• Identify value engineering opportunities and drive commercial performance
• Provide data-led insights to support informed, strategic decision-making
• Prepare estimates from early-stage forecasts to detailed cost plans

Key requirements

• Proven expertise in quantity surveying, procurement, and/or estimating on large-scale infrastructure projects
• Degree-qualified, with chartered status (MRICS) or actively working towards it
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and infrastructure cost management
• Collaborative, proactive approach with clear communication and adaptable thinking
• Willingness to balance site travel with flexible working
