Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor in our Defence business, you’ll support complex defence and infrastructure projects across a broad client base. You’ll help manage costs, contracts, and value engineering while working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver on programme objectives. This role sits within a specialist cost and programme performance function, offering hybrid working and exposure to high-profile projects. You’ll contribute to robust commercial delivery and trusted client relationships, shaping outcomes for critical UK Defence programmes.

Responsibilities
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and project teams
- Administer contracts in line with project objectives and governance
- Provide accurate cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion
- Monitor cost variance and contract cash flow; ensure timely applications
- Collaborate with client and contractor teams to deliver KPIs and value engineering
- Manage contract changes to stay within governance and best practice
- Provide commercial guidance to stakeholders and support final accounts
- Contribute to development and promotion of estimating best practice
- Support achievement of departmental objectives
- Stay informed on technical developments to advise on best practice
Key requirements
- Qualification in Estimating, Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering
- Experience in the Infrastructure sector (Rail, air, power, highways)
- Proven ability to compile and deliver complex estimates and cost models
- Experience in an integrated Project Controls environment
- Experience with single-sourced, non-competed public procurement
- Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
- Strong written and verbal communication in client-facing roles
