Residential Property Partner (remote/hybrid)

Overview

In this remote-first leadership role, you will head the residential property department within a Legal 500 firm, steering strategy, growth, and high-value client relationships. You’ll lead a mostly remote team, with biweekly Brighton visits for strategy and client work, and you’ll shape how conveyancing remains the firm’s strongest revenue driver. The role combines autonomy, strategic oversight, and flexible work to scale a thriving practice. You will directly influence the department’s impact and profitability.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the residential property team, with mostly remote work and periodic Brighton visits
• Manage a small caseload of complex, high-value matters (freehold/leasehold sales, purchases, transfers of equity, remortgages, lease extensions)
• Develop and deepen trusted client relationships and drive business development for departmental growth
• Set and execute strategy to scale the department as the firm’s core revenue generator
• Provide remote leadership, mentorship, and collaboration with office-based colleagues

Key requirements

• 8+ PQE in Residential Property with proven track record in complex matters
• Experience managing a team at Head of Residential Property or Conveyancing Partner level
• Dynamic, commercially astute, with strong client relationship skills
• Comfortable leading remotely with periodic office visits to Brighton
• Willingness to relocate within reasonable distance of Brighton for fortnightly visits
