Overview
You will lead a small, high-calibre contentious trusts & probate team from a remote setting, handling high-value will disputes, trust matters, and probate litigation. You’ll shape the practice’s direction, mentor lawyers, and deepen client relationships for a nationally recognised firm with Legal 500 pedigree. Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a small team of contentious private client lawyers (remote with structured office time)
- Manage complex, high-value matters including will challenges and trust disputes
- Handle a substantial personal caseload of sophisticated contentious work
- Develop and deepen client relationships with commercial awareness
- Shape team strategy and growth as the practice’s senior leader
- Lead remotely with quarterly or bi-weekly Brighton office visits for strategy and meetings
- Oversee staff development and leave ownership of practice direction to senior leadership
- Support partnership culture and progression through effective mentorship and governance
- Utilise technology-enabled systems to manage remote leadership and client service
Key requirements
- 8+ years PQE in trusts, probate, and estate litigation
- ACTAPS or working towards is advantageous
- Experience supervising and developing a small team
- Commercially aware, personable, and confident with clients at all levels
- Ready to take ownership and lead a practice within a Legal 500 firm
- Willingness to relocate or reside within reasonable distance of Brighton for visits
