Overview

In this role you support Amazon’s ITX Compliance function in London, focusing on indirect tax contingencies across EMEA, LATAM, and APAC. You will leverage AI-assisted tooling to manage the FAS5 quarterly close and US GAAP ASC 450 matters, shaping how reserve positions are tracked and reported. You collaborate with regional leaders to drive data-driven, compliant processes and continuous improvement. This is a high-visibility opportunity to deepen contingency accounting expertise and contribute to automation-focused programs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the quarterly FAS5 close cycle for indirect tax contingencies across EMEA, LATAM & APAC, including data validation and multi-regional reporting
  • Review and challenge indirect tax reserve and watch-list positions to align with ASC 450 recognition thresholds
  • Prepare director- and VP-level reporting packs with variance analysis and data quality checks
  • Coordinate with issue owners and Central VAT Accounting teams to resolve data gaps and classification issues
  • Maintain and improve FAS5 portal workflows, manage access, and automate recurring tasks using Excel, FAS5 portal, and AI-assisted tools
  • Monitor changes in indirect tax legislation across jurisdictions and assess impact on reserves and watch-lists
  • Develop and maintain documentation supporting reserve positions, including technical memos and exposure analyses
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and respond to audit queries related to the FAS5 process
  • Support broader ITX Financial Health activities including VAT reconciliation and ageing analysis

Key requirements

  • Bachelor degree
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance principles, regulations, and reporting across jurisdictions
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department
  • Experience with an EMEA focus
  • Experience in a compliance-focused tax role in a multinational or professional organization
