Overview

In this role you will contribute to cost estimation for rail, highways and utilities infrastructure projects in London. You will work as part of Currie & Brown’s expanding infrastructure team to deliver consistent cost planning and reliable estimates aligned with governance procedures. You’ll validate supplier and contractor costs, support budget development and provide clear, client-facing cost reports. The role offers exposure to high-profile projects and cross-functional collaboration within a global consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate cost estimates reflecting project scope and timelines
  • Benchmark project costs and enable reliable performance comparisons
  • Validate cost estimates from suppliers and contractors
  • Develop efficient tools/processes for timely estimates to a common standard
  • Prepare cost estimate reports for governance sign-off
  • Support cost planning during execution to validate forecasts and changes
  • Provide specialist cost planning services per rail clients’ governance procedures
  • Support budget development, investment authorization and cost reconciliation

Key requirements

  • BSc in quantity surveying or equivalent
  • RICS membership or equivalent
  • Technical delivery experience in estimating or QS services
  • Extensive rail, highways or utilities sector experience
  • Pre-contract experience
  • Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes
  • Working knowledge of cost planning techniques for financial control during design development
  • Proficient in unit cost modelling tools
  • Strong technical writing and client-facing communication skills
  • Well-organised, proactive, commercially astute and a team player with a can-do attitude
