Overview
As Principal Structural Engineer in AECOM’s Structures team, you will lead challenging projects across building and heavy civil sectors, with a focus on defence and commercial work. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver feasible, safe, and innovative structural solutions from feasibility to construction support. You’ll engage clients, manage technical and commercial aspects, and mentor engineers to drive project success. Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering projects and ensure successful delivery across commercial and defence sectors
- Engage with clients to define requirements, present proposals, and report progress
- Manage commercial, technical, and managerial aspects of projects, supervising engineers and technicians
- Perform structural analyses, calculations, and produce design reports independently
- Continuously learn new skills and consider wider engineering implications in all projects
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Chartered with IStructE or ICE
- Strong analysis and technical skills
- Demonstrable track record in project delivery or significant contribution to project success
- Ability to obtain MOD security clearance and driving license
- Knowledge of Eurocode; experience in heavy civil projects and/or seismically qualified structures is advantageous
- Ability to lead teams and deliver independent design reports with broader engineering implications
