The Corporate Banking Senior Analyst in UK Natural Resources is focused on focused on energy, power and commodity trading clients. This is an intermediate-level professional role responsible for providing bespoke capital structure expertise and corporate finance advice to clients. The Analyst will work alongside Senior Bankers in business origination and execution across Citi’s product set, with a particular focus on episodic and strategic financing transactions. The overall objective of this role is to deliver content and drive revenue by cross-selling the Citi platform, while efficiently deploying the firm’s capital and evaluating and managing risk. The Role Encompasses – Opportunity to join a team with a strong focus on the energy, power and commodity trading industry and regional client base, delivering market-leading industry content and championing corporate finance initiatives. – The Analyst will become an expert in the energy, power and commodity traders, with exposure to multiple product specialists across Citi, working closely with the Investment Bank and product partners including Capital Markets (DCM, ECM, Acquisition & Project Finance, Leveraged Finance), Markets (Commodities, Derivatives, FX), and Treasury & Trade Solutions (Trade Finance, Cash Management, etc.) Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role. Under the guidance provided by the FCA and PRA, firms should have regard to the following when assessing fitness and propriety:

  • Honesty, integrity and reputation
  • Financial soundness
  • Competence and capability

In order to comply with the requirements of the Certification Regime, Citi entities must take reasonable care to ensure that an employee does not perform a Certified Role without first being certified as Fit and Proper. For this reason, you will be assessed for this role against the Fit and Proper requirements, as described above. This assessment will be carried out through extensive interviews, self-disclosures, permitted criminal record checks, regulated reference checks, credit checks and other background screening checks.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in a financing-focused role such as corporate finance/debt advisory, project finance, or capital markets/investment banking.
  • Ideally, prior experience in energy, power and commodity traders coverage.
  • Strong corporate finance mindset with solid understanding of capital structure drivers.
  • Strong credit skills and experience executing episodic transactions.
  • Quantitative, accounting, and financial modelling skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience); MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong modelling skills., Accounting and Corporate Finance expertise.
  • Counterparty credit analysis and risk assessment.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented environment with demonstrated leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, balancing client needs and Citi priorities.
  • Self-starter with initiative, follow-through, and sound judgement on escalation.
  • Strong networking skills, maintaining close relationships with product and risk specialists.
