Overview
In this role you will lead electrical design for energy storage, solar, and grid connection projects within a renewables-focused team. You will shape FEED-to-detailed design for BESS and grid connections, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable energy infrastructure. You’ll tackle feasibility, option studies, and design assurance on large renewables projects, supporting bids and quality management. This is a chance to influence the energy transition on major UK/Europe projects and work with cutting-edge storage tech.

Responsibilities
- Lead FEED and detailed design for energy storage and grid connection projects (11kV–400kV)
- Design BESS balance of plant and associated control and metering systems
- Develop grid connection solutions for energy storage and renewables
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative solutions
- Support bidding, project and quality management activities
- Work on large renewables projects with UK/Ireland focus and some global engagements
Key requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Experience in FEED, detailed design or owner’s engineer role
- Knowledge of battery storage tech and grid connection requirements
- Experience with HV grid connections and metering/control for BESS
- Experience in consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or utility in energy sector
- Knowledge of grid connection standards (G99, G100, grid codes) and electrical plant items
- Experience with AutoCAD, EnergyPro, CYMCAP, Cableizer, Autodesk Construction Cloud, ETAP, DigSILENT
- Knowledge of emerging technologies (hybrid grid-forming inverters, LDES)
