Nuclear Safety Case Consultant

Overview

In this role you will lead radiological safety analysis across the nuclear lifecycle, shaping safety cases and regulatory arguments for high‑profile clients. You’ll work with cross‑functional teams to embed radiological risk management in design and delivery, and you’ll present clear safety advice to clients and regulators. You’ll influence governance, share expert knowledge, and help drive safer, more sustainable nuclear operations. This is a chance to contribute to significant projects across new build, operations, decommissioning and defence.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review and assess safety cases and safety arguments
• Produce hazard identifications, fault analyses, ALARP assessments and safety justifications
• Provide expert input into nuclear safety management, licensing and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to embed safety in delivery
• Present safety advice to clients, stakeholders and regulators with clarity
• Contribute to continuous improvement, governance and knowledge sharing
• Lead delivery of technical work tasks such as radiological safety analysis, documentation updates, report authoring, and workshops
• Support client engagement and bid submissions for new work

Key requirements

• Experience in nuclear safety case development in commercial or defence environments
• Strong understanding of UK regulation (ONR, MOD DNSR)
• Bachelor in Engineering
• Master’s degree desirable
• Knowledge of safety assessment methods (HAZID, HAZOP, fault schedules, PSA, deterministic analysis)
