Overview
In this role you will lead Health, Safety and Wellbeing across Rail Systems, shaping the HSW strategy and ensuring Zero Harm through governance, audits and performance reviews. You’ll partner with executive leaders and customers to drive continuous improvement, investigate incidents, and deliver reliable management reporting. You’ll build strong cross-functional relationships and champion a safety-focused culture across the region.

Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to H&S teams to deliver Zero Harm in a coordinated way
- Ensure assurance plans, audits and compliance evaluations are in place
- Lead HSW performance reviews with executives using lagging and leading indicators
- Develop and deliver the BB Rail HSW Strategy with the HSW Director
- Investigate accidents and near misses and share lessons across Rail and wider team
- Track actions, apply the SIER process, and fulfill accident reporting requirements
- Monitor HSW performance data and provide regular management reports
- Deputise for the HSW Director when needed
- Lead HSW capability, development and performance within Rail Systems
- Promote Zero Harm and continuous improvement through projects and local initiatives
- Build professional relationships with customers and their HSW professionals
- Own HSW Governance for Rail Systems
- Influence continuous improvement within HSW function
Key requirements
- Chartered membership of IOSH or IEMA (or working towards)
- Rail and/or Construction industry experience with CDM
- Ability to obtain Personal Track Safety qualification and associated medicals
- Strong influencing and communication skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
- Motivational leadership and coaching ability
- Experience of incident investigation and executive-level HSW reporting
- Proven experience leading and supporting senior operational and functional teams
- Experience developing proactive customer relationships
