Overview
In this role you contribute to the university’s financial health by partnering with the School to deliver on the Financial Plan. You influence decision-making, drive change, and support cross-functional collaboration. You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting, year-end delivery, and financial reporting, while upholding controls and value for money. The position sits in the restructured Finance team to enable clearer career paths and stronger governance. You will have the opportunity to shape financial processes and support strategic outcomes for the university.

Responsibilities
- Manage budget and stakeholder relationships in line with the Financial Plan
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and year-end delivery
- Provide training for budget holders
- Deliver insightful reporting and analysis on staffing, student numbers, and programme profitability
- Develop business cases and monitor value for money
- Maintain robust controls, compliance, and continuous process improvement
- Foster collaboration, inclusion and ongoing improvement across teams
- Ensure governance and accountability in financial management
Key requirements
- Degree educated or equivalent experience with significant accounting expertise
- Strong financial management skills and customer-focused approach
- Ability to manage competing priorities to tight deadlines and work independently
- Excellent interpersonal and analytical abilities with stakeholder influence
- Commitment to continuous improvement, governance and value for money
- Qualified accountant status and post-qualification experience desirable
