Overview

In this role you will build and evolve scalable backend services for Prime Finance equities platforms using Kotlin and Java. You will work within a cross-functional team to modernize production systems and support platform transformation and market expansion. You will tackle performance, reliability, and data-processing challenges in a cloud-native, event-driven architecture. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders across the equities domain.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain backend services for trading and post-trade platforms
  • Build scalable event-driven applications and messaging-based integrations
  • Develop services in Kotlin and Java within JVM ecosystems
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and technology choices
  • Advocate for TDD to ensure quality across the lifecycle
  • Implement reliable data processing, event replay, and failure recovery
  • Participate in CI/CD pipelines and frequent production deployments
  • Analyze and resolve complex production and performance issues
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across the equities domain
  • Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence
  • Apply knowledge of capital markets workflows to solution design

Key requirements

  • 7+ years of Java development experience
  • Kotlin experience preferred or willingness to learn Kotlin
  • Hands-on capital markets experience, especially trade lifecycle and post-trade processing
  • Experience building event-driven distributed systems
  • Deep understanding of messaging concepts (ordering, resiliency, replay, failure handling)
  • Strong TDD practices with end-to-end quality ownership
  • Solid experience in Agile delivery, CI/CD, and trunk-based development
  • Knowledge of trade booking, position management, settlement, accounting, and cashflows
  • Strong system design and architectural decision-making skills
  • Ability to operate autonomously in complex, business-critical environments
