Service Technician – Mechanical

Location: HullSalary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annumHours: 36 hours per weekJob Type: Permanent, Full-timeStart Date: ASAP

Our client is an established engineering business specialising in power transmission equipment, industrial gearboxes and geared motors. Due to a vacancy within their existing team, they are looking to recruit a Service Technician to join their workshop-based operation.

This is a long-term opportunity for a mechanically minded individual looking to build a career within an established engineering environment.

The Role

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly, servicing and repair of industrial gearboxes, working primarily within the company’s workshop. The role is approximately 90% workshop based, with occasional travel to customer sites required when additional support is needed by the field service team.

  • Assembling industrial gearboxes
  • Servicing and repairing gearboxes
  • Working with bearings and mechanical components
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical issuesStripping, inspecting and rebuilding equipment
  • Ensuring work is completed to the required quality standards
  • Working safely and efficiently within the workshop
  • Supporting the wider engineering team when required

About You

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical engineering background and be comfortable working hands-on with mechanical equipment. We’re particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • A mechanical engineering background
  • Time-served engineering experience
  • Experience working with mechanical components
  • Previous experience with bearings, gearboxes or similar equipment
  • Good practical mechanical skills
  • A hands-on and methodical approach to work
  • Good attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • A genuine interest in securing a long-term permanent position
