Overview
In this role you will lead and deliver transport planning studies for public sector clients, helping shape strategy, business cases and funding initiatives. You will work within the Strategy, Appraisal and Evaluation team to address societal, environmental and economic challenges through robust analysis and cross-disciplinary collaboration. You will influence project bids, present technical work, and mentor junior colleagues to support career development. Responsibilities
- Manage time to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality analysis
- Lead small projects or components of larger ones within time and budget
- Support bids to win work with current and new clients
- Explain technical concepts to graduates and clients
- Provide mentorship and review analytical work by juniors
- Pursue ongoing professional development through training
- Prepare, supervise and deliver technical presentations to internal and external groups
- Provide technical expertise and review analytical outputs produced by junior colleagues
Key requirements
- Degree/Masters in an analytical subject
- Experience in transport strategy, planning and business case development
- Experience assessing different transport modes across geographies
- Knowledge of DfT business case and Transport Appraisal Guidance (TAG)
- Knowledge of transport modelling and applying modelling outputs to appraisals
- Experience with multi-criteria appraisals and scheme optioneering
- Proven analytical, data manipulation and statistical skills
- Interest in UK transport policy, infrastructure funding, and broader economic development
- Ability to engage with clients and stakeholders; strong communication
- Team player with ability to work in cross-disciplinary, cross-geography teams
