Overview

In this role you will lead commercial strategy and governance for the New Hospital Programme, shaping high-value hospital and capital projects. You will drive contract negotiations and post-contract management to maximise value, efficiency and risk control across complex infrastructure work. You will work with senior stakeholders, project teams and supplier partners to deliver at pace in a large, multi-project programme. This is an opportunity to influence NHS infrastructure on a national scale and support patients and staff through modern, sustainable facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contract negotiations and post-contract commercial management for diverse, high-value projects
  • Develop and implement strategic commercial approaches for complex programmes
  • Lead commercial resources, set objectives, and develop teams for delivery
  • Manage governance interfaces with project managers, risk managers and controls teams
  • Foster supplier partnerships and integrated teams to achieve programme goals
  • Provide expert negotiation and stakeholder engagement at senior levels

Key requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial management within complex construction or infrastructure environments
  • Degree level education (or equivalent senior-level experience)
  • Proven leadership experience including line management and staff development
  • Experience delivering value, efficiency gains and risk mitigation in large programmes
  • Experience with procurement and contracting models, notably NEC-based arrangements
  • Ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders and board-level stakeholders
  • Experience working in integrated project teams and managing multiple priorities
