Overview

In this on-site role at Azenta in Wotton, Surrey, you will ensure products meet strict quality standards while supporting new product introductions and ongoing defect prevention. You will lead cross-functional problem solving to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement, aiming to minimize quality-related costs and maximize customer satisfaction. The role blends hands-on quality control with Lean initiatives, operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Your work directly supports product reliability and build robustness in collaboration with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer-raised quality issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues while ensuring safety and quality compliance.
  • Lead problem-solving sessions using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, and SPC.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and optimize processes.
  • Monitor and update the Quality Dashboard and KPIs such as Defects Per Unit.
  • Lead quality control practices and Lean methodologies.
  • Manage multiple projects with balanced priorities.
  • Support new product introductions ensuring build robustness and reliability.
  • Review and approve engineering changes to maintain product quality.

Key requirements

  • Scientific or Engineering degree preferred
  • Experience in pharma, biotech, or medical devices
  • Proven manufacturing/production experience
  • Strong Lean principles with focus on process optimization and waste reduction
  • ISO13485 / ISO9001 required
  • Advanced experience with 8D Methodology
  • Knowledge of plastics/injection molding or life sciences advantageous
  • Proficiency with Excel, Pivot Tables, Pareto Charts
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse, dynamic team environment
  • Excellent data presentation and analytical skills
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools like 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams
