Overview

In this Risk Manager role you will identify, analyse and respond to project risks to keep a complex infrastructure programme on track. You will lead risk governance across the lifecycle, chair risk review meetings, and drive mitigation and opportunities. Working closely with project teams, stakeholders and suppliers, you will deliver strategic risk insights and dashboards to support informed decision-making. This position offers hands-on risk leadership in a safety-critical, regulated environment and exposure to multi-tranche project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead refresh and ongoing management of the Tranche 0 risk register and support other tranches as needed
  • Chair monthly risk reviews, run workshops, capture minutes, and provide risk dashboards
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities with effective mitigation strategies
  • Review risk registers with project teams to ensure risks are appropriate and non-duplicative
  • Track mitigation actions and monitor risk reduction progress
  • Support Quantitative Risk Analysis activities (Schedule Risk Analysis, Cost Risk Analysis, quarterly modelling and reporting)
  • Collaborate with Change Management to capture programme impacts
  • Lead assumptions management and maintain the Master Data & Assumptions List (MDAL)
  • Provide strategic risk reporting and profile risk exposure across timelines
  • Build relationships with project teams, stakeholders, suppliers and partners to enable delivery
  • Monitor supplier performance across quality, cost, schedule, and reliability, and manage emerging risks
  • Ensure compliance with governance processes and procedures

Key requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and risk management processes
  • Experience managing risk on major infrastructure, defence, engineering, or construction programmes
  • Ability to analyse complex data, identify trends, and provide strategic risk insights
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience facilitating risk workshops, reviews, and mitigation planning
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and risk management tools
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience, including 2 years in a management role
  • Experience with risk analysis, reporting, and governance
  • Professional body membership desirable
  • Umbrella contractor role; SC Clearance; site-based (3 days/week)
