Senior Hydraulic Modeller

Overview

As Senior Hydraulic Modeller within the River and Coastal Management team, you will lead hydraulic and hydrological studies to support flood risk assessments and planning decisions. You will work across multidisciplinary projects with environmental planning, ecology, transport and civils teams, delivering high-quality flood studies within time and cost constraints. You will mentor junior staff, contribute to fee proposals, and communicate complex findings to clients and regulators. Responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic and hydrological modelling studies for flood risk and planning applications
• Deliver flood studies to project timescales and budgets, and self-review work
• Supervise and mentor junior team members; provide technical guidance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver river engineering and infrastructure projects
• Prepare fee proposals and contribute to project management as needed
• Communicate findings through written reports and presentations to clients and regulators

Key requirements

• BSc/BEng/MEng with a focus on hydrology or hydraulics
• Chartered or near-chartered by a professional body
• Experience with 1D/2D modelling (Flood Modeller, ESTRY, TUFLOW)
• Hydrological modelling using FEH methods (ReFH2, WINFAP)
• FRA/EIA involvement and understanding of national planning policy
• Experience training/mentoring juniors; ability to review work
• GIS proficiency (QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo)
• Experience with HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM (desirable)
